Dr. Teresa K. Brigance is a Board Certified Orthodontist

Her early years were spent as an Air Force brat and her family eventually settled in Shalimar, Florida. She decided in the eighth grade that she wanted to study orthodontics and this led her to the University of Florida. There she was a student in the honors program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology with high honors and a 4.0 grade average, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

She continued her education with four additional years at the UF College of Dentistry and graduated at the top of her class in 1990. She earned many awards, including best in oral pathology, dental materials, and prosthodontics, and was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the dental student honor society.

As a licensed dentist, she then practiced general dentistry in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. After her military service Dr. Brigance continued her specialty training with a 3 year residency in orthodontics at the UF College of Dentistry post-doctoral program where she also earned a Master of Science Degree. Her thesis focused on facial growth and the treatment of the under developed jaw in children.

Dr. Brigance has been practicing orthodontics in Melbourne, Florida since 1996 and was Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics in 2007. This is the only board recognized by the American Dental Association and American Association of Orthodontists.

She is also a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists, Florida Orthodontic Association, Florida Dental Association and the Brevard County Dental Society.

Dr. Brigance is the proud mommy to Eli and Nathan and if they spare her a moment, she'd love to get back to ballroom dancing someday.
